The Placitas Community Library Art Committee will celebrate 25 years of the Placitas Studio Tourand anniversary with an exhibition featuring artists participating in this year’s tour.

The community is invited to preview representative works from the Mother’s Day weekend visit in the library’s Gracie Lee Community Room from April 30 through May 18. The exhibition features two- and three-dimensional works in a variety of media, including steel, jewelry, glass, fiber, ceramic, wood, photography, painting, collage and mixed media.

Visitors to the exhibition can take the opportunity to help identify the studios they wish to visit during the visit.

The doors of the participating artists’ studios will be open on May 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Seventy-five performers at 63 studios across Placitas will welcome visitors from all parts of New Mexico and beyond to explore the largest tour in the event’s history.

Artists include Karl and Mary Hofmann, Lisa Chernoff, Peaches Malmaud and Dorothy Bunny Bowen, who have appeared on all 25 Placitas studio tours, as well as 17 artists new to the tour.

Tour brochures will be available at the library and in all studios during the tour. Interested people can also preview the artist pages and download the map at PlacitasStudioTour.com and on the Placitas Studio Tour Facebook page.

All books in the library are available for purchase with a percentage of sales going to the library.

Following this exhibit, exhibits in the Gracie Lee Community Hall will be temporarily suspended as the hall will be used for early voting and Election Day. The exhibitions will resume on June 20.

The library is at 453 NM 165, Placitas. Its hours are Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1-4 p.m.
