Madison has long been a center of progressive printmaking, and this day opens some of the inner sanctuaries to the public. Madison College will showcase its brand new state-of-the-art printing lab on the Truax campus (room D1507) from 1-4 p.m. with demonstrations, souvenir letterpress printing, and the opportunity to screen print a t-shirt. Polka Press, 2132 Fordem Ave., will be open from 7-9 p.m. for a member exhibit and to show off its letterpress, screen, acid-free etching, relief, monoprint, and Risograph equipment. These events are held in conjunction with the Southern Graphics Council International’s annual conference, March 16-19, hosted this year by the UW-Madison Department of Art and School of Education; there are also art shows happening all over Madison, including the Chazen, which is hosting a reception from 5-7 p.m. on March 18 for its Squeeze innovation exposure. Find all the exhibitions and other events open to the public in the conference calendar on
