One Grind in Key Largo offers seating to enjoy coffee or breakfast in the morning. ADRIANA ABREU / Weekly Keys

If there’s one thing people love, it’s a good food truck. The one in Key Largo called One Grind specializes primarily in breakfast, offering a variety of artisanal gourmet coffees and teas as well as burritos, tacos, and bagel sandwiches.

Located in the median at MM 98, near Ballyhoos, try a cappuccino, iced hot chocolate or flat white. Espresso beverages are made from ground-to-order whole grains that are selected with deep, rich taste in mind.

Then finish with cheese sautéed potatoes or avocado toast. All drink orders can be customized and they also offer the flavors we all know and love, like caramel and hazelnut. As if that all didn’t sound delicious enough, everything is fresh and cooked to order daily. It’s true, nothing is frozen.

A board near the service window reads, “Want to hear a joke? Decaffeinated coffee.” ADRIANA ABREU / Weekly Keys

One Grind is yet another COVID-19 baby. The owners, Rosemary Critelli and Christine Cooper, are both local and retired. During the pandemic, they took the opportunity to combine their passion for breakfast and coffee with helping animals in need. All of their tips go to the local humane society, and a portion of every sale of their “Rescue Collab Coffee”, called the Foxy Brown, goes to Pawsitive Beginnings Fox Rescue. The foxes even visit the food truck once in a while for some treats. The owners are also proud sponsors of the Florida Keys Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

One Grind also offers a breakfast catering option for small gatherings (6-8 people) such as celebrations, family reunions or office meetings. And for regulars, they offer punch cards so that after a certain number of visits you can get a reward in the form of the delicious food you keep coming back for.

In the near future, they plan to hold weekly ice cream socials on Fridays to give the community a place to enjoy the weekend and each other. Their current hours are 7 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday (closed Wednesday) and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday.

This food truck is another reminder that the Keys community is full of kind and caring people, eager to make a difference and add quality to the local scene.
