Shaughn Collins is an unforgettable face at the Marathon Community Cinema – and has one of the most radiant beards on the island. CONTRIBUTED

No matter how many people appear on the pages of each edition of Keys Weekly, there are always many more members of our community who deserve recognition. In an effort to spotlight more of the amazing individuals who live and work on these islands, Keys Weekly is proud to spotlight our Neighbor of the Week feature, dedicated to celebrating a community member with each issue. This week’s Marathon Neighbor is well known to those who enjoy the latest films from the Marathon Community Cinema — and beard lovers across the Keys.

How did you get to Marathon and what are you doing here? I was born in Key West and grew up here in Marathon. I’ve worked at Marathon Community Cinema for about nine or ten years now, and between the cinema and the performance hall, every day is a new adventure.

What would you like us to remember? My weird and crazy antics. I’m a buffoon and like to make people laugh, so if I can make someone smile on a bad day, then it’s worth it to me.

What song always takes you to the dance floor? I’m not much of a dancer, but given a situation, I’m pretty big into anything classic rock. Mosh pits at metal concerts are more my thing.

What is your dream vacation? Japan or Ireland. Ireland even more, because of the family heritage.

What’s the last book you read or TV show you binged? The “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, ideal if you are a big Star Wars fan.

What would you do if you won the lottery? Take a vacation now! Then I would invest it in something to help family and friends with housing or vehicles, just to make some people’s lives easier.

What’s the weirdest or funniest app on your phone? I’m not a fan of loading the phone with apps, so there are only a few games to burn some time.

What’s the one thing that’s always on the menu, but you’ll never try? Anything loaded with onions. No bonus.

What is one thing most people never knew about you? I love star gazing. I will just enjoy sitting outside, staring at the sky for long periods of time, and checking the constellations. Full moons and meteor showers are always a great addition.

Two truths and a lie. I’m a huge horror movie fan, play guitar and love to vote. (Last week’s neighbor of the week, Kiki, is from Argentina, not Brazil!)

What is the best advice you have received or given? A dream with determination, can become a reality. Never give up easily.

What’s the most overrated and underrated movie you’ve ever seen? Overrated, I would say the new “Jurassic World” movies. Underrated, “13 Assassins”.

What’s the best snack at the Marathon Cinema concession stand? Popcorn, of course! I have to say though that the hot dogs are also very popular.
