The Lawrence Middle School Drama Club presented two shows of “The Lion King Kids,” based on the 1994 Disney animated musical film and the musical adopted by Broadway. The children’s version included the identical storyline in a condensed form.

“I am incredibly proud of the students at Drama Club,” Principal Willis Perry said in a press release. “Our performers have worked extremely hard to create a memorable experience for their audience and, based on the reaction from that audience, they have more than achieved their goal. I would also like to thank the members of the Lawrence High School team who gave of their time and talent to make the shows a huge success.

Drama Club members performed all 10 scenes and sang and danced to the iconic Lion King songs “Hakuna Matata”, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, “Circle of Life” and “Just Can’t Wait to Be King”.

“I am always amazed at the dedication and talents of our students at Lawrence Schools,” said Pam Gallopini, Director of the Drama Club. “The students had an amazing experience learning the choreography and choral components that went into the show.”

Gallopini noted the work of musical director Susan Rogan, choreographer Inga Gerson, technical director Rob Verdone and pianist Brian Stabile.
