On Sunday, as yet unidentified gunmen abducted two people in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The victims, who were abducted along the Nnobi-Nnewi road and taken to Alor, were thrown from the bridge over the Obiaja River.
This was also corroborated by a video of the scene currently trending on social media, showing one of the abductees lamenting and recounting his experience, while being interviewed by men from the Tiger Squad Local Vigilante, Alor.
One of the victims, who identified himself as Benjamin Okafor, said he was driving to his home town of Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area with another person before they not be removed around 9:00 p.m.
He said the kidnappers, after driving halfway into the about 20ft high bridge, threw them off the bridge and he landed on a concrete base.
However, the second victim did not survive the fall as his lifeless body was found in the drainage system, covered by flooding and huge rocks.
The surviving victim also suffered varying degrees of injuries all over his body.
When contacted, Anambra State Police Command Spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident and disclosed that the victim was rescued and the body of the deceased was deposited in a morgue.
He said: ‘The man was rescued and is currently being treated in hospital. He was later identified and reunited with his family members. Meanwhile, the second victim was taken to the morgue and the investigation has since begun.
