Some Nigerians on Twitter sharply criticized Presidential Assistant Garba Shehu’s first tweet hours later Twitter operations were officially restored in Nigeria.

Shehu had tweeted at midnight that Nigeria had gained “immeasurably” from shutting down Twitter when Nigerians tackled it.

He posted: “Welcome – Let me join my compatriots in welcoming the resolution of the standoff between the Federal Government of Nigeria and Twitter Inc., leading to the laying of a “foundation for a mutually beneficial future with endless possibilities.”

“I join with government leaders in thanking all Nigerians,” especially the vibrant young Nigerians who have endured the long wait to resolve this impasse “, and as the government statement makes clear, the gains from this national sacrifice shared are immeasurable.

“We hope this will be appreciated by all. The nation comes first. Once again, welcome! ”

Reacting, Nigerians asked Garba Shehu to expose the gains from the Twitter suspension.

One of them, Onu’kwube @RayNkah, said: “Welcome? No. We haven’t been anywhere. We have always been here. Talk for you.”

Mr. Ted @Deus_Ugwoke: What dead end are you talking about, the unfortunate ban was unnecessary in the first place, we know it is a race against time for the APC government knowing that the election campaign will be near as Twitter is playing a major role in the campaign.

Proudly Nigerian @ max20ebi: By removing the right of Nigerians to express themselves freely and to criticize the activities of the government of the day. You cannot silence people who are determined to make a change. May God visit you and treat you like you and your manager treat Nigerians

Oke Ayodele @infoDmedia: Your days in power are numbered.

Cornelius Osaje @CorneliusOsaje: Now the nation comes first, sad as you speak without remorse.

Kaforhenry @kaforhenri: Tell all your bosses at the top that we don’t vote APC. We enjoyed Twitter while the ban was in effect.

Olaoye @OlaoyeOA: You lifted the suspension because of the election campaign

Djradica @Djradica: In the first place, you have no justification for banning Twitter. Shame on those behind the ban.

Billionaire Prince @GogoAbite: We are removing you from power.

Lagos Obi @Obiginger: I’m not getting like five years of VPN subscription… Government ignorant.
