Former Imo Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha is at the Federal High Court in Abuja on arraignment for money laundering and related offences.

He was brought to justice by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

the punch reported that Okorocha was forcibly arrested from his home in Abuja last Tuesday.

The sitting senator and presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress allegedly failed to honor the EFCC’s invitation.

The EFCC had filed 17 charges against him and the senator is expected to be brought before Judge Inyang Ekwo.

Okorocha, who is the first accused, is being charged alongside Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited and Legend World Concepts Limited as as second through seventh defendants respectively before Judge Inyang Ekwo. .

Okorocha, through his attorney, Ola Olanipekun, SAN, had applied to court on Friday on liberal terms, but the request was denied by the court.

He allegedly laundered funds to the tune of 2.9 billion naira while he was governor of Imo.

They are currently arguing their case as of this writing.
