Alhaji Salisu Dambatta, publicity director of the Congress of All Progressives, denied reports that John Akpanudoedehe has resigned as secretary of the interim and planning committee for the party’s extraordinary convention.
Dambatta, in a press release on Saturday, said Akpanudoedehe remained the party’s CECPC secretary.
Dambatta said this while reacting to media reports that Akpanudoedehe had resigned from his post following the change in party leadership.
“We would like to note that APC CECPC Secretary Akpanudoedehe never sent a resignation letter to the party to the best of his knowledge nor was he fired like some social media blogs have speculated.
“All of this is totally false, the APC is a family, the CECPC is a unit,” he said.
Dambatta said the party has an interim president in the person of Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger.
According to him, Bello is racing against the clock to deliver a national convention and the members of the committee are united in supporting him in carrying out his mandate.
“Please disregard social media stories that are not rooted in facts or even sound reasoning,” he said.
New national executives are expected to be elected at the CPA’s national congress scheduled for March 26.
